On Thursday, August 18, the fifth edition of the Urban Sports Week Amsterdam (USWA) starts. The Urban Sports Week is the stage in the Netherlands where urban athletes show their skills and lasts until August 28.
In district East children and youth can participate in activities at the Urban Sport Zone Zeeburgereiland and at the Flevopark Vert Ramp under the Amsterdam Bridge.
Urban sports communities
This week urban sports, lifestyle and culture come together. Urban athletes show their skills to a large audience. The Urban Sports Week Amsterdam is also a highlight for the urban sports communities in the city. They open their doors for free to anyone who wants to get to know their sport. Children and youth can participate in various activities throughout the city, such as roller discos, weightball, jumprope, 3×3 basketball and inline skating. Anyone can participate for free, even without experience.
Urban Sports in East
In the district we have two wonderful urban sport locations. The largest concrete-lined skate track in the Netherlands: the Urban Sport Zone Zeeburgereiland. And the Flevopark Vert Ramp under the Amsterdam Bridge, which was renewed just before the summer.

Flevopark Vert Ramp @Amsterdam Bridge
- Fri 19 and Sat 20 Aug 11.00 to 13.00: Vert Ramp Jam
Free vert clinics for all ages at the Vert skate ramp in Flevopark under the Amsterdam Bridge. Experience what it’s like to skate in a vert ramp (large halfpipe). Skateboards and protectors included. Two clinics every day: 11am-12pm and 12pm-1pm. Stop by and get tips from experienced skaters.
Urban Sport Zone Zeeburgereiland
- Sun 21 Aug 10.00 to 17.00: WCMX workshops & competition
Wheelchair skills event for wheelchair users to get to know the skatepark and wheelchair skills. There are workshops basic skills with the wheelchair, WCMX (wheelchair skating) and a competition WCMX with international participants. Start event: around 11.00 hrs. - Wed 24 Aug 10.00 to 13.00 hrs: Skateboard Clinics
- Wed 24 Aug 10.00 to 13.00 hrs: Inline skating Clinics
- Thu 25 Aug 10.00 to 13.00 hrs: 3×3 Basketball Clinics

1 vs. 1 Panna Soccer Tournament in cages (open registration, free entry). Winner qualifies for finals on August 28 in Southeast. Ages: 12-, 15-, 16+.

2:00 p.m.: opening by famous street soccer player
2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: open qualification
16.30 to 17.30 hrs: Top 16 matches
17.30 to 17.50 hours: Finals
